Abstract

Traditionally, education has left aside the contributions coming from the field of medicine, and specifically from neuroscience, focusing mainly on the teaching and learning process. However, in recent years contributions and theoretical models have been emerging from neuropsychology, which have led to the emergence of neuroeducation or educational neuroscience. It is an interdisciplinary scientific field that studies the interaction between neuronal, psychological processes and education with the purpose of improving the teaching and learning process in the student. The present study aims to review the findings of neuroscience that can help improve the educational curriculum in the different educational competencies and the teaching-learning process in students with and without special educational needs. The results of neuropsychological studies have shown the efficacy of neuropsychological techniques. Therefore, it is concluded that it is time to include transversally the contributions of neuroscience in the classrooms.
