Résumé
This article analyzes the role played by Saint Vicent Ferrer in the political climate of the Crown of Aragon in Italy from the mid-15th c through the 18th c. The saint, a classic of medieval thought and preaching, exerted an extraordinary influence not only on the thought and preaching practices of Catholicism but also in the politics of the end of the 14th and beginning of the 15th century. His influence was pervasive in Italy after his death and this was utilized by the Crown of Aragon for its expansion in Italy upon the conquest of Naples by Alfonso the Magnanimous. This is analyzed in the article through a series of works of art never utilized for this purpose, such as paintings, frescoes, mosaics, etc. and thus demonstrating the polyhedric influence of classics.
