Bonding with adopted minors entails some particularities that can be explained from the analysis of the reality of these children, particularly bearing in mind what their previous experiences were, the reasons for which they were separated from their families, and the consequences that all may have suffered in their psychosocial development. The adopted children, especially if they were adopted during their first year of life, will present more risk to develop insecure patterns of attachment and negative representational patterns regarding both other potential attachment figures and themselves as being worthy of their attentions. However, it is possible to intervene to re-establish the affective security and to guarantee some firm basis on which to build their psychological development, through the child abuse prevention and the promotion of the personal means for children and families to deal with the emotional consequences of the adopted minors. The post-adoptive intervention should be directed to create a security basis, for both adoptive families and adopted children.
