Resumo
Juan Navarro’s concern to depict the liaison between man and the world he inhabits has led him to explore different disciplines in which his For example, the extrapolation that Navarro makes of the ready-made to architecture and the reversed role between display and fragment, between the pre-existing and the architectural object articulating its dependence on them. His words on drawing understood as a form-finding tool clarify the affinities between architectural ideation drawings and sketches produced by painters. Equally suggestive are his assertions with regard to the gradation between abstraction and figuration in painting. Even the use of handmade gestures –calligraphic we might say– as a way of understanding and articulating ornamental facade elements in some of his works directly stem from his own graphical activity, transposed to architectural scale through the application of new construction technologies. Summarizing, in the multifaceted and synergistic work of Navarro Baldeweg we find echoes of other times when the border between the visual arts and architecture was not so sharply defined; a past in which specialization and craftsmanship did not prevent being at the same time an architect, a painter and a sculptor for those with the talent to be so.
