Abstract

The Cryptinae community, in two Mediterranean mountains of Alicante and Valencia provinces (South-eastern Spain), was studied. The sampling was carried out along two years, by means of Malaise traps. A total of 4,725 individuals belonging to 86 species were collected: 47 Cryptini and 39 Phygadeuontini, which represent a 74-84% of estimated species. Five new records for the Iberian Peninsula are included: Agrothereutes monticola (Habermehl, 1935), Acrolyta pseudonens Schwarz & Shaw, 2000, Gelis speciosus (Hellén, 1949), Obisiphaga stenoptera (Marshall, 1868) and Zoophthorus australis (Thomson, 1885). The species Gnypetomorpha deserta (Tobias, 1963) is recorded for the first time for the West-Palaearctic region. Annual activity shows two peaks, in spring and autumn. Most species have a wide distribution in the Palaearctic or supra-regional region
