Abstract

O ne of the main pillars of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) is independent learning. This type of learning empowers students to become the protagonists of their learning process and enables teachers to assume new roles, such as tutors. In order to be effective, independent learning requires a good system of tutorials. This article presents the results of an anonymous survey consisting of 14 questions on the use of tutoring at the University. The survey was answered by students of the last year of the English Philology degree. The purpose of the survey is to foster the critical capacity of these students regarding University tutorials and independent learning. The results show that tutorials are not integrated in current teaching/learning processes.
