Abstract
During the last century has been present an important change in the relation man-environment on the terrestrial surface; the city has passed to be the organizing place of the social, economic, cultural and political life of territories. And besides, there has been consolidated an urban hierarchy that is presided by a few big, very big cities, which are the representative image of the new globalizated world. The megacities are relation, contradiction, conflict and risk spaces which alter, in a determinant way, natural conditions where they are. The XXIst century is going to be the century of the big cities, that grow intensively in underdeveloped world originating social and environmental problems. Earth planet has, with the megacities, a new type of relation man – environment, with complex management.
