Abstract

The aim of this paper is to study the effect of incorporating a hydrophilic fumed nanosilica in the formulation of polyurethane adhesives with different NCO/OH to improve its thermal, rheological and adhesive properties. Hydrophilic fumed silica was incorporated to polyurethane adhesives with different NCO/OH. The hypothesis is that the degree of phase segregation of the polyurethane is affected by the presence of silica and the formation of hydrogen bonds. Therefore, there should be a variation of properties in polyurethanes in response to the presence of dispersed silica.
