Abstract
The seismic series 1828-29 caused serious damages in the Vega Baja of Segura river (South of Alicante, Spain). It destroyed four villages (Torrevieja, Almoradí, Benejúzar y Guardamar) that were quickly rebuilt with urban and building regulations, to avoid future seismic catastrophes. This city planning has characterized the urban morphology of these villages during one hundred and fifty years. Since the seventies of 20th century several economic and social changes have deeply modified the urban landscapes.
