Résumé

The objective of this study was to develop a linguistic validation of the Spanish versilon of the Vécu et Santé Perçue de I'Adolescent (VSP-A) questionnaire in order to apply it in Colombian adolescents. The linguistic validation was developed from the Spanish version (VOE). The process was carried out in three stages: a) agreements with the authors of the original version, b) direct translation, consultations with key informants, meetings of the research group and classiflcation of equivalences, c) cognitive interviews with adolescents of both sexes and different socioeconomic status from Bogota and Barranquílla. The validation followed the standard and adjusted linguistic validation process. During the translation process, among the thirty nine items that form the questionnaire, three were evaluated like problematic items by the philologist and two were valued like ¡tems with difficult comprehension by the key informants. A first version was elaborated from the opinions ot the experts and translators and it was used to realize the cognitive interviews with adolescents. The second version was elaborated from their valuations. In this version, seven items were formulated like in the VOE, twenty seven had syntactic and semantic modifications and five had moditications related to cultural questions. Those items that had more problems in the linguistic adaptation were included in four dimensions: satisfaction with sexual life, relations with the health staff, vitality and self-estrem. The Colombian version of the VSP-A can be considered a linguistic equivalent of the VOE and its psychometric properties should be evaluated in a pilot study.
