Resumo

While the majority of women's dramatic production at the end of the XVIII century and the beginning of the XIX lies outside the orthodox models of the Neoclassical comedy or tragedy, some dramatists managed to approximate the model of the comedy of manners, privileging the critical and reformist tone of Neoclassicism over pure entertainment or overemotional plots. The comedies of María Rosa Gálvez are a notable example of feminist ideological dissidence which do not break with the bounds of enlightened orthodoxy. This divergence from the gendered ideology of her time changes the work of the author into a variant of the Neoclassical comedy, a variant that presents itself as a catalogue of female experience at the turn of the century and at the same time as a blueprint for the future for women of the time.
