Resumen
The primary aim of this essay is to provide a general theoretical reflection on biography as a genre, at the same time offering a discrimination of its different types, with particular reference to Rüdiger Safranski's recent biography of Friedrich Schiller. Secondarily, we also examine several biographical studies of the great German thinker and poet before focusing on Safranski's work and on the figure and overall significance of Schiller
