Abstract

The hypotesys is abaut generational transformations in postcommunist societies. Young people could express a discontinuity with regard to the previous structures of opinion, abaut democracy and market. Methodologically a double control is used. First, the analy- sis of cohorts to avoid the risk of interpreting something general as specific of a class of age. Second, to,compare with societies of capitalist traditíon to avoid the same effect. In general youngpeople support the same opinions that the previous generations. The most widespread opinion combines the acceptance of the free market, with the exigency of State intervention to mitigate inequalities. For historical different ways, capitalism and communism have converged on the same public opinion. Inequalities demand an intervention of the State.
