Abstract

The analysis of the relationship between the tourism development model and its implications in the consume of water, provide us with ideas and criteria to set up a context for the meaning and the scope of tourism as a water consuming sector in the territorial development. This paper aims to introduce some questions regarding the current tourist model and some predictable future trends taking as a reference the aspects of quality and sustainability this sector requires and its effects in the water management. To achieve this aim, it is interesting to assess the relationship between water consuming and the different tourist models together with the need to consider the importance of the water resources in the tourism dynamic from a sustainable perspective.
