Abstract
The interest for the studies of torrential rains and floods at Alicante province was a matter of chance. The flood gone on October 1982 linked by the training of a research group headed by the professors of the University of Alicante Gil Olcina and Morales Gil made la creation of this research line possible, one of the subject that most recognised has given to this group. It is shown an inventory of the flood investigations made by geographers of Alicante, a summary about the most important floods happened on the last twenty years and any thoughts about geographers' role on research of natural risks.
