Abstract

The decade of the 1960s was marked above all by a process of socio-economic transformation, which led to the appearance of new life styles and behavioural patterns in Spanish society. In these circumstances, an opposition movement would emerge and call into question the foundations of the system of social control created by the dictatorship. During this period, the Franco regime brought about a number of serious crises, with a significant increase in social conflict, and a ever closer link between the workers' and students' movements and a segment of the Catholic Church, all of whom shared ideals and hopes, as well as suffering repression.
