Abstract
The retrogression phenomena which ocurr within the last summer months over the western mediterranean bassin presuppose the development of highly unstable barocline pressures which activate the mechanisms of energy transference (latent heat) in said area. The formation of mesoscala convective systems, clearly seen on the infra-red images sent by the weather satellites, are linked with heavy rains, natural element of the late summer months in the peninsular mediterranean area. The catastrophic consecuences of the episode corresponding to end september-first days of octuber 1986 is a good example of the pluviometric consecuences often associated to these atmospheric situations.
