For decades castles in general and castles of Alicante in particular have experienced an increasing interest both in their knowledge and in their conservation. For this, since the 1950s and to date, the castles of the Vinalopó River and Foia de Castalia have been restored together with a greater or lesser historical-archaeological and architectural research associated with the interventions. Taking advantage of this early interest in the castle heritage and its marked identity of the population with its strength, from the University of Alicante and the Diputación of Alicante, along with several city councils, a project of cultural tourism focused on a public-private partnership to generate the tourist product club Route of the Castles of Alicante although at present it has not been developed.
