Abstract

In the last decades new processes have become important in regional studies. Natural risk has become one of the geographical themes with more important conceptual and methodological evolution, without forgetting its applied facet as a fundamental part in spatial planning. In this paper, it analyses important advances in risk analysis, from geographic discipline, in recent years. The role of geography, unique and integrative, in analysis of natural risk is studied and the use of a unit of territorial risk analysis is proposed: the risk region, which is defined by a series of characteristics typical of regional geographic analysis renovated.
