Resum

In recent years the (collaborative) generation of academic knowledge has intensified thanks to the digitalization of information and open access platforms, which exponentially favor the transmission of knowledge and its transfer, but also involve relevant dilemmas and challenges, which they are going to aim, because they require deep reflections. The support from the University to knowledge as intangible, infinite and incalculable results for the progress of society is not in doubt, what is involved is to put the emphasis on how this support is made. Because the University not only responds to efficiency and calculation of costs, but also and fundamentally to the commitment with certain values: the dissemination of knowledge, inclusion and social responsibility of academic work. The debate no longer focuses so much on the public or private nature of the research center as on its timely governance, and on the consideration of knowledge as a common good, which, enhanced by digitalization, will connect tradition and innovation, will remove obstacles (art. 9.2 Spanish Constitution), for the transfer of scientific research for the benefit of the general interest (Article 44.2 Spanish Constitution).
