Resum

The present work shows the use of a graphic tool to consolidate, for instance in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering degrees, the fundamentals of the thermodynamic phase equilibrium calculations and the isoactivity criterion, needed for a correct use of any thermodynamic model. With this objective, it has been developed a GUI (Graphical User Interface) in MatLab that allows checking in a friendly environment (with no needs of advanced knowledge about programming), if a thermodynamic model and its corresponding parameters are totally coherent and consistent with the expected behaviour of the system. The main goal of this tool is to show to the students and any other users, in a direct way, visual and quick, how a single topologic analysis of the mixture Gibbs energy function allows to understand and check the existence of phase equilibrium, the existence of possible false solutions, and also the consistency of the thermodynamic model and parameters used. The initial results obtained show that the developed tool allows a fast understanding of the concepts, and that exits a good predisposition to the use of graphical concepts and the TIC as guided or self-learning tools.
