Abstract

Universities need to invest great economic and organizational efforts in adapting their information systems to respond to the use needs of e-learning platforms. Before a university decides to bet on investing in these methods, it should make a thorough study of how to assess the impact of that investment. The objective of this research is to evaluate different methodologies to measure the impact of e-learning to determine an applicable model to the reality of higher research centers. We propose to study the particular case of the Central University of Ecuador. The study of existing work is proposed, in addition to analyzing the different agents involved in the process (teachers, students, organization) by conducting some surveys, taking into account both the axis of the benefits and the costs. As a result of the study and surveys relevant indicators will be obtained to define a model adjusted to the reality analyzed. If a university has a model that allows the calculation of the impact of the investment to be made on a methodology, it can assess whether it is profitable or not and therefore whether to invest or not in the methodology, i.e, It is possible to try to answer the following question: must the university invest in online platforms?
