Resumen
The University of Alicante (UA) has been recognised, among Spain universities, for its achievements in the progress of the teaching and learning quality and also for its relevant efforts in the European convergence process. In the framework of collaborative research models of teaching professional development, the UA have enacted a set of programmes that we analyse in this research. These main programmes are the following: Networks of Research on Teaching and Learning; Tutorial and Mentoring Action; and Novice and Expert Teaching Development Programme. The great amount of voluntary participants, more than a 50% of the teaching staff, and the results obtained evidence that the innovative models and strategies articulated offer educative possibilities and opportunities to transform the more traditional teacher staff development programmes.
