Abstract
The scientist and academic publishing is living a time like never before. The recent requirements motivated by ANECA and CNEAI new mandates have increased the value of the academic articles as a vehicle of scientist communication. The communication spanish Journals are nowdays getting such a demand to publish those articles that the processes to see the light for most of them are taking longer than desired. The rich variety of themes around communication as well as the difficult segmentation of contents and the available number of journals to publish are some of the factors to motivate the refusal of certain articles when they do not respond to the Journal criteria. By the other hand, the growth of specialized journals in specific themes, could represent a certain indicator of maturity. In this paper we are presenting the conclusions and results after analyzing 48 Journals listed under the observatory of scientist Journals of social science (Science and Innovation Minister of Spain, I+D+i, EDU2011]13034]E). The analysis consist of a web checking in the case of electronic Journals or the latest published number in the case of printed Journal considering the theme of the Journal or the name of it. The results reveal that mostJournals are using generalist descriptors in line with the scientist area. 66% of Journals accept certain and restricted contents, making evident a higher degree of specialitation. Some communication areas doesn,t look to have a clear location.
