Abstract

This PhD thesis describes the progresses made in understanding the mechanism of reactive infiltration and the role that chemical reaction plays. The findings have been used in the production of SiC components from low cost precursors achieving the manufacture of SiC components with improved mechanical properties compared to the commercially available ones.
