Abstract

We show in this paper the results obtained in the treatment of free-radical corneal inflammation with topically applied eyedrops of seven different extract fractions made from infusions of Matricaria Chamomilla. Our results show that the fraction F₃ , which has oxygenated terpenoids in its composition, has a very significative effect on freeradical saturation measured by chemoluminescense. Such finding suggests that Matricaria Chamomilla extract fractions might be clinically useful in the treatment of inflammatory corneal disease.
