Abstract
Adapting a novel into a film is not a simple question of translating the narrative plot to images, but a process in which many languages are involved. It is in the adaptation to an audiovisual medium where music, images and dialogues interact, creating new meanings and discourses. The aim of this paper is to explore the way literature and cinema develop their narratives through the analysis of the adaptation of Paul Auster´s Auggie Wren Christmas Story to the film Smoke.
