Resum

This work is oriented to the evaluation of acoustic quality of the classrooms in Ecuador, considering the case of the Universidad Tecnológica Equinoccial. It aims to be a pioneer and to open a path for future researches in the field of architectural acoustics. In order to have the necessary theoretical elements, in this work a preliminary review of the literature is carried out, considering previous regional and world studies, as well as the international standards used for acoustic measurements. Two parts are proposed for acoustic evaluation: objective and subjective. In the first one, the ISO 3382 (1, 2 & 3) standards for acoustic measurements are taken as reference, using room acoustic simulation and measurement software, called ODEON, which complies with the standards already indicated. The ODEON method is the integrated impulse-response method using a sweep sine signal for reverberation times and speech intelligibility measurements. In this study acoustic simulations are performed in ODEON whose results can be compared with the measurements "in situ". For the subjective evaluation, the proposed method to evaluate the speech intelligibility uses as instrument groups of 50 logatomes to be applied to several groups of listeners. The measurements collected in this work allow to characterize the acoustic quality of the selected rooms. For this, ANSI standards 12.60 (part 1 & 2), AS/NZS 2107 and the recommendations of several authors are considered. As a final part, strategies are suggested to improve acoustic quality in rooms that do not comply with standards and recommendations.
