Abstract

The Revolution of 1868 opened a period in which very important changes in matter were attacked of secularization. The idea that Spain owed to reach modernization passed for a necessary one erradication of the ecclesiastical power of the civil sphere. The revolutionaries claimed in name of the progress the regeneration of the society. They built a referring religious very extensive one in which, without let in many cases the Catholicism, they were acceptable diverse proposals that advocated by the contact among reason and faith. The plurality and the great quantity of shades went the dominant notes to the hour to present that regeneration. The death and the marriage, two key moments in the life of the man, permit a first approach to the secularization attacked since the institutions and its impact upon the mentalities. The testaments and the civil registration question the traditional vision of a Spain ultracatholic, as well as also the actions and perceptions of the individuals with greater capacity to influence upon the events of the moment. All it themselves prove in sections as diverse as the parties, the morale or the espiritism, one of the most important reformist paradigms, in the line that pleaded by the secularization recorded in the religious framework. The secularization in the Sexenio appears like an ambiguous project, that lacked time and medium to be written down and in which live together you form new and old, which does not annul the determined will of its promoters to carry out real transformations of the society.
