Abstract

The study focuses on diagnosing urban sustainability in coastal tourist areas facing increasing demand and rapid urbanization. It aims to identify key factors influencing sustainabilityin order to balance tourist activity with the needs of the local population. The comparative analysistargets two cities with similar tourist models, Balneário Camboriú in Brazil and Benidorm in Spain.Leveraging social media data (Google Places, Twitter), the research assesses economic and urbanactivity within a 500-meter coastal strip. The findings highlight similarities and differences betweenthe cities, offering insights for future interventions in consolidated coastal tourist destinations.
