Abstract

The local seismic network of Alicante province (URSPA) was founded in 1994, and until now, the recording process has been improved by using I and 3 components short period seismographs, 1 very broad band seismograph, and 2 acelerographs. A ten-year catalogue has been compiled showing the seismicity in the Alicante province and surroundings, which has been compared with the catalogue provided by the National Seismic Network (ICN) in order to check the differences in location, detection, magnitude of completeness, magnitude assignment. From the obtained results we can observe as the configuration of our local network has allowed to record small earthquakes which were not detected by IGN. On the other hand, differences in magnitude assignment are about 0.44 because of using a more detailed three homogeneous layers earth model by URSPA. Differences in location are mostly lower than 10 km in epicentral location and 5 km in focal depth.
